Fontenot grabs top honors
Basile runningback Gabe Fontenot gained 214 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 26 and 15 yards on the Bearcats’ 34-0 win over North Central.
For his efforts, Fontenot has been selected as the Eunice News Player of the Week for Oct. 4-10.
Other top performers included:
Iota running back Kaleb Guillory had 36 carries for 250 yards and four touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 69-46 loss to Jennings.
St. Edmund quarterback Drake Brunet completed 13-of-18 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in the Blue Jays’ 50-0 win over False River Academy.
Brunet also gained 75 yards on 12 carries and scored three times.
Blue Jay running back Gibson LaFleur had 167 yards of offense and scored three times in the win over the Hurricanes.
LaFleur had seven catches for 98 yards and added 69 yards rushing with scoring runs of 1, 15 and 28 yards.
Church Point running back Frederick Williams had 10 carries for 143 yards and scored on runs of 6 and 25 yards in the Bears’ 43-6 win over Port Barre.
DeShawn Wheeler added 143 yards of total offense as he had 98 yards rushing and 45 yards receiving.
He scored on runs of 5 and 42 yards as well as a 33-yard pass from Troy Matte.
Basile’s Jarrod Belle gained 130 yards on 10 carries, including a 40 yard touchdown in the Bearcats’ win over North Central.
Eunice High quarterback Alex Richard completed 8-of-13 passes for 114 yards, including a 39-yard scoring strike to Dashawn Vigers in the Bobcats’ 34-0 win over Ville Platte.
Wesley Hebert scored on a 57 yard run and a 67 yard punt return for the Bobcats.
