Four-field tourney invades Eunice area

Twenty high school baseball teams from around the state will compete in the 2014 John R. Young Chevrolet/Frey Construction/ Louisiana Crane Baseball Tournament beginning Thursday and continuing through Saturday.
Games are scheduled to begin on Thursday at four different sites, including Eunice High’s Bobcat Field, St. Edmund’s North Park, Jennings High School, and the newly completed field at Iota High School.
Thursday’s action is set for a 4:30 start, with Sacred Heart of Ville Platte taking on Livonia High at Eunice High, Kaplan facing Mamou at North Park, DeRidder playing Westlake at Jennings, and Crowley taking the field against Pine Prairie in Iota. Completing the Thursday action at 6:45 are Cecilia High School against Eunice High at Bobcat Field, St. Edmund hosting Church Point, Jennings hosting Beau Chene, and Port Barre facing Iota.
On Friday, action begins at 4:00 with DeRidder facing Mamou at Bobcat Field and Kaplan taking on Pine Prairie at North Park. Those games will be followed by two other games, set for a 6:15 and 8:30 starts. Breaux Bridge will face Sacred Heart and Eunice High will take on Brusly at Bobcat Field, while St. Edmund will host Beau Chene, followed by Kaplan taking on Livonia.
Friday’s games in Jennings begin at 4 p.m. with Westlake versus Cecilia, followed by Port Barre taking on Crowley High, and concluding with Jennings facing False River Academy. Friday games in Iota begin at 4:30 p.m. with Iota taking on False River before Northside takes on Church Point at 6:45.
The Saturday schedule at Eunice High’s Bobcat Field includes Eunice versus Northside at 10 a.m., Mamou taking on False River at 12:15, Eunice facing Kaplan at 2:30 p.m., and Mamou taking on Westlake at 4:45 p.m.
There are three games scheduled for North Park. At 10 a.m., Brusley will face Beau Chene, followed by the Blue Jays hosting Cecilia at 12:15 p.m. and DeRidder taking on Brusly in a 3:30 p.m. start.
Contests at Jennings on Saturday are Breaux Bridge versus Port Barre at 11 a.m., Crowley facing Sacred Heart at 1:15 p.m., and Jennings hosting Breaux Bridge in a 3:30 p.m. start. Games in Iota will feature DeRidder versus Church Point at 11 a.m., Iota hosting Pine Prairie at 1:15 p.m., and Livonia facing Northside in a 3:30 p.m. start.
