Four Lady Cats earn 5-3A honors

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats had a great season under first-year head coach Wayne Fontenot.
The Lady Cats finished as Co-District 5-3A champions with Ville Platte before the Lady Bulldogs won the tiebreaker to enter the playoffs as the district’s top team.
Eunice ended the season with a 16-10 overall record and went 9-1 in district.
Ville Platte (19-9, 9-1) was the only other team in district that finished with a winning record.
Northwest (9-13, 6-4), Pine Prairie (8-16, 3-7), Port Barre (7-14, 3-7) and Church Point (1-22, 0-10) all failed to make the playoffs.
Eunice High senior DaShae Vigers earned All-District first team honors along with Ville Platte’s Kealogah Calvin, Kabreanna Stevens and Miya McKinney.
Northwest’s Alexia Rubin also earned first team recognition.
Calvin was named the district’s MVP, while Ville Platte coach Dot Doulot earned Coach of the Year honors.
Eunice freshman Stacie White earned second team honors along with Northwest’s Jordan Duplechain, Kristen Thomas from Port Barre, Pine Prairie’s Tori Bordelon and Talia Jones from Church Point.
Eunice senior Mia Lejeune was named the district’s All-Defensive team.
Lejeune is joined by Ville Platte’s Zairia Fontenot and Makayla Ardoin as well as Brittany Bellard and Taylar Deville from Pine Prairie.
Eunice High’s Aisha Ledet was named to the Honorable Mention list.
Ledet died on Feb. 26.
