Lady Bobcats down OHS

OPELOUSAS – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats claimed their first District 4-4A victory here Tuesday evening with a 43-36 victory over the Opelousas High Lady Tigers.
The Lady Bobcats, now 1-2 in district play, dominated the fourth quarter to claim the win.
The Lady Cats, trailing 30-29 entering the final eight minutes, outscored the Lady Tigers 14-6 in the fourth quarter for the victory.
Success at the free-throw line keyed the Eunice comeback.
The Lady Cats made all six of their free throws while the Lady Tigers converted on just two of eight attempts in the fourth quarter.
Eunice’s Hali Jack was four-for-four and Mia Lejeune was two for two from the line for the Lady Bobcats.
With Dashaya Vigers missing the game due to an injury, Jack and Lejeune both stepped up offensively for the Lady Cats. Jack finished with 17 points, including seven of nine on free throws. Lejeune added 13 points on four field goals and five free throws.
Beulah Bradley had four and Hannah Jack chipped in with four and three points, respectively.
Skylar Ardoin, Reiah Robertson, and Alexia Jason rounded out the scoring with two points each.
Destiny Pitre topped the Lady Tigers in scoring with 15 points. Makayla Semien finished with 11 points.
In their previous district contest at Beau Chene last Friday, the Lady Bobcats fell to the Lady Gators by a 58-41 margin.
Hali Jack led the Eunice scoring with 17 points.
Bradley and Vigers added 10 and seven points, respectively. Ardoin added three, with Lejeune and Mariah Ceasar scoring two apiece.
Alex Weeks led Beau Chene with 17 points. Kara Malton added 15 for the Lady Gators.
OHS 72, EHS boys 51
OPELOUSAS – The Eunice High Bobcats suffered a 72-51 loss to the Opelousas High Tigers here Tuesday night in the District 4-4A opener for both teams.
The Bobcats, now 4-12 overall, got off to a good start, scoring 17 points to tie the Tigers at the end of the first quarter. But the Tigers began to exert themselves in the second quarter, outscoring the Cats by a 17-7 margin to post a 34-24 halftime lead.
The Tigers extended their lead to 14 points in the third quarter with Kennan Garrett leading the way with eight points as Opelousas outscored the Bobcats 15-11. The Tigers managed to put the game away in the final quarter with a 23-16 advantage.
“I thought we played hard and did a lot of things well”, commented Bobcat head coach Chad Andrepont. “We just need to play a little bit smarter at times.”
Halen Jack led the Bobcats in scoring with 16 points. Brandon Ndubueze finished with eight points, while Andrew Jason and Malik Poullard added six points apiece.
Garrett led the Tigers in scoring with 19 points. Curley Richard and Terrell Lewis added 14 points apiece for the Tigers.
Next action for the Bobcats comes on Friday when they host Washington-Marion in another district contest.
Iowa 62, Eunice 59
IOWA – The Eunice High Bobcats suffered a tough road loss last Friday night as the Iowa High Yellow Jackets rallied late to claim a 62-59 victory.
The Bobcats dominated the first half of the contest, out-scoring the Jackets 16-7 and 25-13 over the first two quarters to build a 41-22 lead by halftime.
But Iowa fought back in the third quarter with a 23-13 advantage to cut the Bobcat lead to 54-45 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Jackets, aided by a six of six performance from the free-throw line in the final quarter, out-scored the Cats by a 17-5 margin to come away with the three-point victory.
For the game, the Jackets made 16 of 21 free throws, counting the six made in the final eight minutes of action.
The Cats went to the free-throw line 10 times in the game and converted six of those chances.
Three Bobcats scored in double figures to pace the Eunice High attack. They were Kevin Williams with 12 and Halen Jack and Travis Godfrey with 10 points apiece. Keithan Green added eight, while Malik Poullard and Brandon Ndubueze had seven and six, respectively.
Austin Wilmore led Iowa in scoring with 20 points. Darion Daniels and Andre Sam added 12 points apiece for the Yellow Jackets.
