Lady Cats, Bobcats shine in Relays
The Eunice Lady Cats finished second as the Bobcats finished third in the 2014 Bobcat Relays.
Crowley scored 136 points to win the boys competition, followed by Beau Chene (105), Eunice (74), Port Barre (53.5), Oakdale (53), Notre Dame (42), Opelousas Catholic (40), Rayne (35) and Northwest (14.5).
Nicholas Powell won the 100-yard dash with a time of 10.94 just ahead of Bobcat team mate Darious Richard’s 11.0.
Eunice’s Donte Washington won the 200-yard dash with a time of 23.07.
Eunice’s Skylar Ned, Nicholas Powell, Donte Washington and Darious Richard finished second in the 400-meter relay with a time of 44.60.
The foursome of Ned, Ashton Smith, Alyh Johnson and Triston Frye finished third in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:36.05.
Bobcat Cole Prudhomme finished third in the shot put with a toss of 45-9 1/4, while Jor’Don Daigle finished third in the javelin with a throw of 154-9.
The Rayne Lady Wolves won the girls competition with 99.5 points, followed by Eunice (83.5), Notre Dame (79), Oakdale (74), Crowley (55), Beau Chene (52), Port Barre (38), Northwest (36) and Opelousas Catholic (29).
Lady Cats’ Jyreh Johnson, Hali Jack, Kristi Thibodeaux and Beulah Bradley won the 400-meter relay with a time of 53.04.
Johnson, Kiara White, Thibodeaux and Bradley won the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:51:37.
Johnson, White, Jack and Bradley captured the 1,600-meter relay with a 4:30.31 finish.
Eunice’s Bethany Issac won the shot put with a throw of 32-4 1/2, while Sadie Fontenot finished third in the discus with a toss of 91-8 1/2.
Eunice’s Dashay Vigers finished second in the javelin with a throw of 86-1.
Hali Jack fnished third in the high jump with a leap of 4-6.
