Lady Cats claim third straight district title
RAYNE – Eunice High scored 122 points to edge out Opelousas High as the Lady Cats captured their third straight district title.
OHS finished with 98 points, followed by Beau Chene (84), Crowley (72), LaGrange (67), Rayne (59) and Washington-Marion (52).
Hali Jack won the high jump with a leap of 5-0, while Dashae Vigers won the javelin toss with a throw of 103-7 1/2.
Shelbie Cormier finished second in the pole vault with a height of 7-6, while Gabriella Fernandez finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:07.47.
Kailey Richard finished second in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 6:47.57.
Bethany Issac finished second in the shot put with a throw of 31-4.
Kate McLemore won the discus with a toss of 113-3 1/2, while she finished second in the javelin (100-5 1/2).
Clea Fransaw, Jack, Kiara White and Kristi Thibodeaux won the 4x400 relay with a 4:28.88 finish.
Beulah Bradley, Jack, Johnson and Thibodeaux finished second in the 4x100 relay with a time of 52.25.
Jyrieh Johnson finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.69, while Chelsea Aucoin finished third in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 15:39.58.
Bradley finished fourth in the 100 meters (13.38) and the 200 meters (28.04).
Johnson, Bradley, White and Thibodeaux finished fourth in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:50.33.
The Opelousas Tigers won the boys division with 121 points, followed by Crowley (114.5), LaGrange (114), Beau Chene (86), Washington-Marion (55), Eunice (52.5) and Rayne (12).
JorDon Daigle won the javelin with a toss of 170-2 to lead the Bobcat field events.
Nicholas Powell finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.48, while Cole Prudhomme finished third in the shot put with a toss of 43-9 and Skylar Ned finished third in the discus with a throw of 113-3 1/4.
Dylan Bertrand finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 10-6.
Darious Richard, Ned, D’Onte Washington and Powell finished fourth in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 45.07.
Washington finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.46.
The regionals will be held next Thursday at Northside High in Lafayette.
