Lady Cats fall to HCA, WCA

The Lady Cats battled to keep the games close, but Hamilton Christian earned a 25-16, 21-15, 25-21 and a 25-8 win over Eunice High in the volleyball season opener for both teams.
The Lady Warriors jumped out to an four-point advantage before Eunice responded to force a tie three times.
Serves by Felicity Thibodeaux and Angelle Ortego helped the Lady Cats keep the first game close before Hamilton went on a 8-0 run to push ahead, 20-16.
The Lady Warriors sealed the 25-16 win with five unanswered points.
Eunice responded to grab a win in the second game, as the Lady Cats fought back after each Hamilton Christian point.
The game was tied four times including 20-20 before the Lady Cats rallied for a 4-1 surge at the end to pull out the victory.
Quality points from Caroline Mire, Ali Rae Lejeune and Thibodeaux helped Eunice earned the win.
After the Lady Cats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third game, Hamilton Christian answered with a 5-0 run before a kill by Mire.
Ortego later had a strong series of serves to help the Lady Catsgrab an 18-14 lead, but the Lady Warrriors answwered with a 7-0 run.
EHS forced a 20-20 tie on a kill by Alyssa Gianfala, but Hamilton then grabbed a 24-20 lead.
After a service error gave EHS a chance, the Lady Cats also had an errant serve to give the Lady Warriors the 25-21 win.
Ortego served the first point for the Lady Cats in the fourth game, but HCA took control of the game aided by 11-0 run with Sydney Landry’s serves leading the way.
After a hit into the net broke serve, Eunice could only close the gap to 17-7 before Macey Guillory led the Lady Warriors on a 7-0 surge.
A kill by Ortego scored the Lady Cats’ final point before an EHS error gave Hamilton Christian its 25-8 victory to seal the match.
WCA 3, EHS 0
The Westminster Christian Academy Lady Crusaders rolled to a 25-4, 25-10 and 25-6 sweep over Eunice on Tuesday.
WCA jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first game, aided by five kills and four service aces.
Eunice’s first point came on a WCA error as the Lady Cats trailed 12-1.
The Lady Crusaders continued with an 8-0 run with serves by Destiny LeDoux along with kills by Moriah Brooks, Abby Revell and Stacia Newton.
Eunice rallied late forcing several WCA errors and added a point on a kill by Ali Rae Lejeune before a serve out sealed the WCA win.
The Lady Crusaders opened the second game with a 5-0 run before EHS closed the gap to 5-3.
With Neilee Newton, LeDoux and Brooks serving, the Lady Crusaders increased its lead to 18-5.
EHS added several point on WCA errors to close the gap to 24-10 before a final hit out of bounds closed the 25-10 win for the Lady Crusaders.
Westminster opened the third game with a 8-0 run before a hit out of bounds gave EHS its first point.
The Lady Cats forced several WCA errors to close the gap to 15-4.
But the visting Lady Crusaders sealed the win with a 10-2 run, aided by kills by Brooks and Neilee Newton.
Caroline Mire closed the Lady Cat scoring with a late kill, but a kill by Stacia Newton ended the match, 25-6.
Eunice (0-2) travels to Hamilton Christian at 5:30 p.m. Thursday while WCA (1-0) visits Church Point (0-1).
