Lady Cats open district

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats saw their district record fall to 1-2 as they dropped a 21-2 decision to the Beau Chene High Lady Gators in action Tuesday night at the Lady Cats’ Field.
The Lady Gators dominated the action early on with a 5-run first inning. Beau Chene added three runs in the third inning and six runs in the fourth to build 14-0 lead.
The Lady Gators wrapped up their scoring with a seven-run outburst in the fourth.
The Lady Bobcats scored their only runs in the fourth. Amber Arvie was hit by a pitch and Logan Ledoux drew a walk to open the inning.
Both runners scored on a grounder by Heidi Pitre and a fly out by Katlyn Joubert. The only hits for the Lady Cats came from the bat of Mia LeJeune who had two singles.
The Eunice High Lady Bobcats opened District 4-4A play by winning one and losing one in softball action.
The Lady Cats claimed an 11-8 win over the Crowley High Ladies on last Thursday before dropping a 15-7 decision on Friday to the LaGrange High Lady Gators.
Against Crowley, Eunice pitcher Amber Arvie opened the game by shutting out the Lady Gents over the first three innings.
That gave the Lady Bobcats a chance to take the early lead as they scored four runs in the first two innings.
Mia LeJeune opened the game by drawing a walk and moving to second on a bunt by Darian Fontenot. LeJeune scored on Arive’s single. In the second inning, Katlyn Joubert singled and Destiny Edwards was hit by a pitch. LeJeune walked before Fontenot doubled to make it a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Cats built their lead to 6-0 with two runs. Christine Sonnier and LeJeune on Arvie’s triple, but Crowley responded with three runs in their fourth inning to cut the lead to 6-3.
The Lady Cats answered back in the top of the fifth, batting around in the inning, led by singles from Heidi Pitre, Ryan Citizen, Joubert, and Fontenot.
Crowley cut the lead to 10-8 with three runs in the sixth, but LeJeune homered in the top of the seventh to give the Lady Cats an 11-8 lead and the Lady Gents were retired without a run in the seventh.
Against LaGrange, the Lady Cats jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning, thanks to singles by LeJeune, Fontenot, and a double by Arvie. A single by Citizen drove home the third run.
LaGrange tied the game with a run in the first and two in the second, then erupted for five runs in the third inning to go on top by an 8-3 lead. Eunice cut the lead to 8-5 with two runs in the third thanks to singles by Arvie, Pitre, and Joubert, but the Lady Gators would score single runs in the fourth and fifth and add three more in the sixth to extend their lead to 13-5.
The Lady Bobcats scored two runs in the sixth, getting singles from LeJeune, Logan Ledoux, Pitre, Edwards, and Kelci Huval. The Lady Gators would clinch the win with two runs in the top of the seventh.
