Lady Jay duo makes All-District
The North Central Lady Hurricanes rolled undeated through District 5-1A and finished the season as the Class 1-A champions after a 54-50 win over Vermilion Catholic last weekend at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles.
Because of their accomplishments, three Lady Canes (30-3, 8-0) were named to the All-District First Team and Vanessa Taylor earned Coach of the Year honors.
North Central seniors Sydney Martin (20.2 ppg) and Jazlyn Roberton (24.7 ppg) are joined by sophomore Quaniqua Joseph (15.7 ppg) on the 5-1A first team.
False River Academy senior Macenzie Foret 16 ppg) and Sacred Heart of Ville Platte junior Gabbie Andrepont (16 ppg) close out the first team.
St. Edmund senior Jami LeBouef (6.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg) earned a spot on the All-District Second Team.
Sacred Heart senior Natalie Earles (6.5 ppg) and teammate junior Kara Aguillard (10.2) were also on the second team.
North Central senior Santanna Edwards (6 ppg) and False River senior Jaimie Knight (8.1 ppg) finish the second team.
The All-Defensive team includes North Central’s Megan Dargin, Kennedi Broussard from Catholic High of Pointe Coupee along with FRA’s Olivia LeBlanc and Erin Fontenot from Sacred Heart.
St. Edmund senior Payon Crowell was named Honorable Mention along with Jolie Thibodeaux and Maggie Lambert from CHPC, FRA’s Logann Callahan. Auriel Wilson from North Central as well as Hannah Lemoine, Catherine Poche and Sydney Shiver from Sacred Heart of Ville Platte.
