Lady Jays down South Beauregard
St. Edmund took advantage of three South Beauregard errors as the Lady Jays grabbed a 6-3 win over the Lady K’s on Monday.
South Beauregard (5-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as lead-off hitter Allie Parker singled and scored on a single by Jacklyn Derson.
St. Edmund (9-1) responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame grab a lead the Lady Jays would not relinquish.
Heather Bieber singled with one out, while Kasey Lafleur and Jami LeBouef walked to load the bases.
Maggie Larriviere reached on an infield error that allowed Heather Bieber to score to tie the game.
Kelli Richard moved on base on an outfield error as courtesy runner Allison Lafleur and LeBouef scored to push the Lady Jays head, 3-1.
The Lady K’s closed the gap to 3-2 in the top of the third inning when Jalecia Holmes singled up the middle and scored on a bunt by Kelsie Buxton.
South Beauregard tied the game in the top of the fourth inning as Madison Moses walked, stole second and scored on a hit by Derson.
The Lady Jays quickly responded to retake the lead in bottom of the inning, begun when Baylee LaFleur singled to third and Heather Bieber reached on a two-out error.
Heidi Bieber then drilled a double down the left field line to score Baylee Lafleur and Heather Bieber to give the Lady Jays a two-run advantage.
Heidi Bieber then stole home to push St. Edmund ahead, 6-3.
Kasey Lafleur earned the win as she struck out 12, walked three and allowed two earned runs on nine hits as the Lady K’s left 11 runners on base.
Derson suffered the loss as she struck out two, walked four and allowed an earned run on six hits.
