Lady Jays grab two key wins

St. Edmund exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Lady Jays earned a 6-2 win over the Rayne Lady Wolves.
Rayne (2-7) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Brittany Broussard hit a solo home run over the left field wall.
The Lady Jays rallied with the strong fourth frame, begun when Gabby Fontenot advanced on an error, Kelli Richard singled and Victoria McGee reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases.
Olivia Clark’s hit up the middle drove in Fontenot, while Abby Miller rapped a double to plate Richard and McGee.
The Lady Jays moved ahead 4-1 when Heidi Bieber singled in Clark.
Maggie Larriviere then belted a triple to score Miller and Bieber to extend the Lady Jays’ lead to 6-1.
Rayne closed the gap to 6-2 in the top of the seventh when Madalyn Dupont reached on an error and scored on Brittany Broussard’s single to right field.
Lady Jay senior pitcher Kasey Lafleur earned the win as she allowed two runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts and a walk.
Richard and Clark both finished 2-for-3 as the Lady Jays connected for eight hits.

SEH 15, St. Joe’s 3
PLAUCHEVILLE – St. Edmund’s Heidi Bieber hit a home run to open the game as the Lady Jays cruised to a 15-5 road win over St. Joe’s on Tuesday.
Elissa David also scored in the inning to push the Lady Jays ahead, 2-0.
The Lady Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the frame as Emily Linn and Elizabeth Linn both scored.
St. Joe’s pushed ahead 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning, but St. Edmund regrouped to score four runs in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead.
McGee singled, while Richard and Fontenot walked to load the bases.
Clark had a RBI sacrifice, while Miller and Bieber both reached on errors to push across two more runs.
Thibodeaux also drove in a run to give the Lady Jays a slim advantage.
St. Edmund exploded for nine runs in the top of the fifth to seal the mercy-rule win.
Lafleur walked and McGee singled before Richard’s two RBI double.
Clark and Miller were hit by a pitch and Beiber responded with a RBI double to extend the Lady Jay lead.
Thibodeaux drove in another Lady Jay run, while McGee followed with a RBI double.
Richard drove in McGee for the final Lady Jay run to extend the margin to 15-5.
Clark and LaFleur combined for the win as they allowed five runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
McGee went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while Bieber and David both went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Richard went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
St. Edmund will entertain Church Point at 4 p.m. Monday.
