Lady Jays grab win over EHS

In the clash between cross-town rivals, the St. Edmund Lady Jays earned a 5-2 win over Eunice High on Tuesday.
After two scoreless innings, the Lady Cats grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Payton Winn singled up the middle and courtesy runner Jyhreh Johnson scored on a single by Mia LeJeune.
Kaliee Lyons singled and later scored on a passed ball to give EHS a 2-0 advantage.
The Lady Jays responded with two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game.
Heather Bieber reached on an error and scored on another Lady Cat miscue that put Kasey LaFleur on base.
Sydney Thibodeaux drove in LaFleur for the second run of the frame.
The Lady Jays grabbed the lead in the top of the fifth when Jada Fontenot reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a bases-loaded single by Maddie Andrus.
St. Edmund pushed ahead 4-2 in the top of the sixth inning when Heidi Bieber singled and scored off Fontenot’s double to center.
The Lady Jays added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Andrus walked and scored on a hit by Jami LeBouef.
St. Edmund pitcher Casey LaFleur struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.
LaFleur struck out eight, walked one and allowed six hits in the win.
Winn was handed the loss as she allowed three runs on six hits in five innings of work.
Sadie West pitched the final two innings and allowed two runs on three hits with three walks.
Heidi Bieber went 2-for-3 with two walks, while Baylee LaFleur went 2-for-4.
Lyons wnt 2-for-4 to lead EHS, while Allison Bellard went 2-for-3.
St. Edmund entertains Breaux Bridge at 4:30 p.m. today at the Eunice Recreation Complex.
Eunice will host Crowley at 5:30 p.m.
