Prudhomme signs with Cajuns

Cole Prudhomme knew when he went to their camp he wanted to be a Ragin’ Cajun.
Wednesday, the Eunice High senior offensive lineman made it official when he signed a national letter of intent to play football at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette,
“As a football player you always dream about playing in college,” Prudhomme said. “I am thrilled and real thankful for this opportunity.”
Prudhomme (6-3, 275) is expected to play center for the run-oriented Cajun offense.
Prudhomme was faced with the decision last summer on which camp to attend as LSU and ULL camps were scheduled for the same weekend.
“I had a good feeling about going to the Cajuns’ camp so I took the chance and walked away with a scholarship.”
Prudhomme was a two-time District 4-4A All-District and All-St. Landry Parish teams.
“I had the responsibility as a senior to be a leader,” he said. “Making my decision in August made it easier to just play my senior year as I didn’t have to outshine every one to get the eye of a scout.”
Prudhomme said he is leaning toward a major in physical therapy/sports medicine.
Prudhomme is the youngest son of Floyd and Janet Prudhomme.
“My dad always pushed me to be better,” Cole said. “I am thankful that he always had that drive to push me.
“My mom was always there supporting me,” he said. “I had great parents who always pushed me.”
“If they wanted to play a sport they had to finish the season,” father Floyd said of his sons. “I would not let them give up on their team.
“I am very proud of him,” Floyd said. “He had the drive to get better and he reached his goals.”
Assistant football coach Andre Vige was Prudhomme’s line coach his junior season and was impressed with what he saw in the lineman.
“Cole’s size and quick feet really helped our offensive line.
“Hopefully UL can bring him in and help him reach his greatest potential.”
Vige, who was a quarterback at UL-Monroe understands the college rigors.
“It is a transition from high school to college, in the classroom and on the field,” Vige said. “I think once he gets in to the routine, he will be just fine.”
