Rayne rolls in sweep over EHS

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats struggled in the second half against the Rayne High Wolves to drop a 65-24 decision in District 4-4A action Friday evening at the Bobcat gym.
The Lady Cats used a strong start to take an 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Cats’ Hali Jack made one of two free throws to open the scoring in the second quarter, but the Lady Wolves went on a 9-0 run to build an 18-12 advantage with 3:18 left before half.
Jack hit a 3-point goal a minute later to cut the lead to 18-15, but Rayne’s Tanner Wilson hit a free throw and teammate Charlesha Dugas drove in for a field goal to make it a 21-15 lead.
Eunice’s Beulah Bradley converted two free throws in the final seconds to cut the lead to 21-17 at the half.
The third quarter proved disastrous for the Lady Cats as Rayne went on a 19-0 run over the first seven minutes of the quarter to build a 40-17 lead.
The only points for the Lady Cats in the quarter was field goal by Reiah Robinson which cut the lead to 44-19 heading into the final quarter.
The Lady Wolves continued their onslaught over the final eight minutes by a 21-5 margin to post the victory. The victory improved Rayne’s overall record to 16-4 and its district record to 5-0.
Dugas led the Lady Wolves with 16 points. Whitley Larry, Amari Collins, and Cierra Harmon scored 10 points apiece for the Wolves. Wilson finished with nine points.
Hali Jack led the Lady Cats with 14 points. Bradley added four, while Robinson, Shania Malveaux, and Alexis Jason rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
Next action for the Lady Cats (5-13, 2-5) will come Friday when they travel to Crowley to continue district play.

Rayne 56, Eunice 45
The third quarter proved to be decisive as the Rayne High Wolves outscored the Eunice High Bobcats by a 16-10 margin to pull away on their way to a 56-45 victory in District 4-4A action Friday night at the Bobcat gym.
The Bobcats had fallen behind the Wolves in the opening quarter by a 16-8 margin, but the Bobcats had fought back with a 14-9 surge in the second quarter to close within 25-22 at halftime.
The Cats, though, would struggle in the third quarter as the Wolves went on a 14-1 run over the first five minutes of the quarter to gain separation that the Cats could never overcome.
Rayne, now 9-10 overall and 1-2 in district, were led in scoring by Byron Mouton’s 18 points. Charles Jones added 12 and Drakkar Broussard finished with 11 for the Wolves.
Devon Freeman led the Bobcats in scoring with 10 points.
Brandon Ndubueze added seven, while Malik Poullard and Georrein Dupre added six apiece. Keithan Green finished with five points.
In their previous game at LaGrange, the Bobcats fell to the Gators by an 80-57 margin. The key for LaGrange was a 51-30 advantage in the first half. J’son Brooks and Michah Dugas led the Gators with 18 points apiece.
Leading scorer for the Bobcats was Ndubueze with 14 points. Terryl Poullard and Malik Poullard scored 10 and nine points, respectively. Halen Jack added seven.
The Bobcats will continue district play on the road at Crowley High this Friday.
