Richard grabs top honors
Eunice High rolled up 431 yards of total offense in Eunice’s 40-18 win over St. Martinville.
Bobcat quarterback Alex Richard completed 15-of-18 passes for 292 yards including two touchdown tosses to Travis Godfrey and another to Wesley Hebert.
Richard also gained 48 yards on nine carries and scored on a 2-yard run.
For his efforts, Richard is selected the Eunice News Player of the Week for Sept. 13-19.
Other top performances from the third week of the high school football season include:
St. Edmund quarterback Drake Brunet completed 18-of-34 passes for 338 yards with four touchdowns in the Blue Jays’ 48-26 loss to Opelousas Catholic.
Blue Jay Gibson LaFleur had 12 catches for 240 yards including touchdowns of 7 and 67 yards against OC.
Basile’s Gabe Fontenot had 21 carries for 173 yards and scored four times (5, 23, 25 and 22 yards) in the Bearcats’ 29-7 win over South Cameron.
Eunice High’s Godfrey had four catches for 99 yards including touchdowns of 44 and 45 yards in the Bobcats’ win over St. Martinville.
Austen Montgomery completed 14-of 24 passes for 217 yards with a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 39-21 loss to Lake Arthur.
Iota’s Kaleb Guillory rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.
Church Point quarterback Troy Matte completed 5-of-15 passes for 97 yards in the Bears’ 35-34 overtime victory over Kaplan.
