Sacred Heart clips Blue Jays

Sacred Heart of Ville Platte exploded for three runs in the top of the seventh and then held on for a 7-6 win over St. Edmund Monday in Acadiana Metro League play.
The Trojans pushed across the three decisive runs begun when Garrick Fontenot doubled and scored on Nick LaHaye’s triple to left field.
LaHaye crossed home plate on Conner Fontenot’s single.
Fontenot later scored on a passed ball to give the Trojans a 7-3 advantage.
St. Edmund rallied for three runs in the bottom of the frame, begun when Austin Gradney was hit by a pitch and Brad Miller walked.
Gibson LaFleur then blasted a triple to centerfield to plate Gradney and Miller.
LaFleur added the Blue Jays’ final run when he scored on a two-out wild pitch.
The Trojans scored two runs in top of the second when Garrick Fontenot and LaHaye walked and score on a double by Julien Vidrine.
Sacred Heart pushed ahead 4-0 in the top of the third as Brandon Fontenot and Jacob Dupre both singled and later scored on a hit by Jacob LaFleur and a sacrifice fly by Garrick Fontenot.
The Blue Jays closed the gap to 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth as Drake Brunet walked, stole second and scored on a Trojan error.
St. Edmund added a run in the bottom of the fifth when Jack Brown walked and scored on a sacrifice fly Gibson LaFleur.
The Blue Jays closed the margin to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth when Will Chachere singled and scored on a hit by Phillippe Aguillard.
St. Edmund scored six runs on just four hit with seven walks and two hitbatsmen.
Blue Jay pitchers Gibson LaFleur, Chachere and Brunet limited the Trojans to eight hits with five strikeouts, five walks and a hitbatsman.
