St. Ed’s Brown earns top player honors

St. Edmund quarterback Drew Brown rolled up 324 yards of total offense and was involved in five touchdowns in the Blue Jays’ 44-0 win over Westminster Christian Academy.
Brown completed 12-of-24 passes for 256 yards as he threw touchdown passes to Alex Hunt (11 yards), Cullen Brown (46 yards) and two to Austin Sittig (13 and 30 yards).
Brown also gained 68 yards on 15 carries including a 2-yard touchdown run.
For his efforts, Brown was selected as the Eunice News Player of the Week for Sept. 28- Oct. 4.
St. Edmund’s Cullen Brown hauled in three catches for 94 yards and a score against WCA, while Zach LaFleur recorded five solo tackles, an assist and two fumble recoveries.
Eunice High quarterback Alex Richard gained 91 yards on 15 carries and scored twice in the Bobcats’ 26-20 overtime loss to Washington-Marion. Richard also completed 2-for-3 passes for 63 yards.
Ajyh Johnson recorded five solo tackles, 15 assists and a quarterback sack in the Bobcats’ loss.
Church Point’s Christian Veronie had 137 yards on 18 carries, including a 27-yard touchdown run in the Bears’ 41-1 win over North Vermilion.
Basile’s Kendrick Ceaser had 132 yards on 20 carries in the Bobcats’ 22-8 loss to Hamilton Christian.
