Dog fighter fugitive turns self in
An alleged dog fighting operator gave himself up Tuesday without a whimper.
Antonio Boyd, 35, was booked Tuesday about noon, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
He faces 47 counts of cruelty to animals, one count of dog-fighting and counts of drug possession and distribution, possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number and in the presence of illegal drugs.
Records show he posted $140,000 bond.
Boyd and Jason Haskett, of Natchitoches allegedly ran a dog fighting operation at a house on Breaux Bridge Senior High School Road.
Police and animal welfare officials seized 47 pit bulls and arrested Haskett last week. Boyd eluded them.
