Myrtles Plantation fire contained to gift shop

On Wednesday night, St. Francisville and Zachary firefighters responded to a fire at the Myrtles Plantation in West Feliciana Parish.
A fire broke out inside the gift shop of the legendary Myrtles Plantation about 7 p.m.
The main house was booked full of guests who were staying at the plantation overnight.
Guests were allowed back into the home for the remainder of the evening since no damage occurred to the main house and was isolated to only the gift shop, the oldest portion of the historic plantation.
The gift shop is detached from the main house by a small alleyway, where firefighters said they were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the main house.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
A spokesperson for the Myrtles Plantation said that every single room was booked for the night.
All guests, visitors and staff were evacuated until the flames were fully extinguished by St. Francisville and Zachary Fire Departments.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The blaze was extinguished about 10 p.m
