Natchitoches minister says he'll run for governor

A Baptist minister says he’s making a run for governor in the 2015 gubernatorial election.
The Rev. Jeremy Odom, a Democrat from Natchitoches, says he has enough support to get his name on the ballot for the election scheduled Nov. 3, 2015.
Odom and supporters began testing the waters last November, meeting with various groups statewide and voicing the need for changes in the way Louisiana does business.
Odom, who’s also a tax consultant and would be Louisiana’s first African American governor, says he’s convinced the state is on a “perilous course” and he feels obligated “to do all I can.” Odom sees “the lack of honesty and integrity” in Baton Rouge as motivation to seek office.
If elected, he hopes to create more jobs with living wages in Louisiana.
