Vehicle veers to U.S. 90 shoulder, kills two workers
A vehicle crash on US 90 South Service Road has claimed the lives of two Iberia Parish government employees and sent the driver and passenger of a vehicle to local hospitals with moderate injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Mitsubishi Galant, operated by 26-year-old Alicia Marie Mire of New Iberia, was traveling east Tuesday on the US 90 South Service Road when it drifted onto the south shoulder for reasons under investigation.
The Mitsubishi continued on the shoulder for an unknown distance before striking the rear of an Iberia Parish pick-up properly parked on the shoulder of the Service Road with its emergency light activated. After the initial impact, the pick-up truck moved forward, striking the two parish employees, 48-year-old Ross Migues of Lydia and 57-year old Jody Anthony of St. Martinville, causing fatal injuries.
Mire and her passenger were transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries. Mire and her passenger were restrained at the time of the crash. Impairment on Mire is unknown at this time. Routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis
This crash remains under investigation.
