Woman, daughter die when SUV leaves road, overturns in canal

State police say a 31-year-old Theriot woman and her 3-year-old daughter died when their vehicle overturned into a canal Wednesday afternoon off La. 315 south of Falgout Canal Road in Terrebonne Parish.
Trooper Evan Harrell identified the victims as Ashley Worrell and her daughter, Delaney Lirette.
Harrell says Worrell was northbound on La. 315 shortly before 5 p.m. when her SUV went off the road, into a canal and overturned.
Harrell says volunteer firefighters pulled Worrell and her daughter from the submerged vehicle, and Worrell was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Her daughter was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
