BASILE – The Basile Bearcats opened their seasons with a sweep over rival St. Edmund Tuesday night.
The Lady Cats began the night with a 60-42 win, while the Bearcats grabbed a 64-47 win over the Blue Jays.
Former LSU Eunice softball player Salea Brooke Willoughby was killed in an automotive accident on Saturday morning in Baltimore, Maryland while visiting a friend over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Willoughby, 25, was from Patterson where she was a stand-out pitcher and utility player.
