Acadia Parish narcotics agents stabbed

A 42-year-old Crowley man is accused of stabbing two Acadia Parish narcotic agents on Saturday in Mire, a news release from Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated.
Jason Broussard, of the 100 block of Velma Court, was booked on three counts of resisting arrests, possession of a weapon and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, the news release stated. Broussard’s bail has been set at $1,075,000.
The two agents had responded to a complaint of disturbance at a grocery store at La. 95 and 98 in Mire.
Two deputies had already responded when the narcotics agents arrived. The agents began a search and located Broussard in an outer building behind the store.
When they tried to arrest Broussard, he resisted and stabbed both agents numerous times, the news release said.
Deputies arrested Broussard while he attempted to flee the scene, the news release said.
The agents were taken to a Lafayette hospitl by Air Med and Acadian Ambulance. They were treated for multiple stab wounds and cuts.
One of the deputies was released Saturday evening after he was treated and the second deputy remained hospitalized overnight and released Sunday morning.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office had outstanding warrants for Broussard for an incident that took place about a week ago on McCain Road near Egan. Broussard was wanted for felon in possession of a firearm and resisting an officer, the news release stated.
Melancon said that both deputies, who were not identified, are home and are expected to have a full recovery.
