Burglary, thievery season begins

While you are shopping at stores, there are some people who are shopping at your residence, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The thieves and burglars began in earnest about two weeks ago in what Fontenot said are crimes of opportunity.
“We ask for everybody to be vigilant and watch for suspicious people in your neighborhood and call us if you see something out of place around your house or your neighbor’s house,” he said.
Fontenot said the pace of thievery and burglaries picked up about two weeks ago and about two to three thefts or burglaries are reported daily in Eunice.
Anything is game for the thieves.
Recently, Christmas lights disappeared from a residence.
“Make sure to keep your vehicles and houses locked,” Fontenot said.
