An audit of the St. Landry Parish Economic Development District found “everything is in order,” accountant Steven Moosa said.
Moosa delivered the audit report by Darnall, Sikes, Gardes and Frederick at the district’s board meeting Tuesday.
Moosa’s report included several references such as “very good position moving forward” and “in line to move forward to do positive things in the community.”
The district’s net position as of June 30 was $3,270,742, up from $2,357,549 the previous year.
Total liabilities were $12,174 as of June 20, down from $13,178 a year ago.
The district’s finances were aided by the sale of 422 acres for about $1.5 million, which helped boost its fund balances from $1 million in 2014 to $2.7 million on June 30.
The property is located near the Opelousas Industrial Park.
The upbeat audit report came during a meeting in which Andy Dakin was nominated to return as chairman and Anthony Baltkis as vice chairman.
Roma Stewart was nominated for secretary and Gary Soileau as treasurer.
Bill Rodier, executive director, addressed several areas during the meeting in his report.
— One Acadiana is guiding the development of a GIS interface that is common to its nine-parish membership. The effort is to give each parish’s site the same look and functionality, Rodier said.
The Acadian Planning Commission is assisting several municipalities, including Eunice, in developing priorities for planning.
