Connor Atchison

Escaped trusty apprehended

Eunice police apprehended a 17-year-old Eunice man who escaped as a trusty Feb. 24 on Tuesday in the Point Blue area of Evangeline Parish, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Fontenot said Connor Atchison was apprehended without incident.
Atchison now faces a simple escape charged, Fontenot said.
Atchison had been in jail about two weeks for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia when he fled.
“He’s a kid making a stupid decision,” Fontenot said about the escape, which is a felony charge.
Atchison was a trusty when he escaped about 3:30 a.m.
The Eunice police radio logs indicate Atchison took off headed south on 3rd Street. Police received a call that placed him heading north on 2nd Street toward La. 13. Next, he was reported a trailer park on North 2nd Street.
Police were in the process of trying to get Atchison into a drug treatment facility, he said.
