Eunice man arrested for 3:10 a.m. incident at Walmart

A man went into the Eunice Walmart store at about 3 a.m. Saturday with a juvenile, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Things went downhill from there and the man started making derogatory and threatening comments to employees, Fontenot said.
The employees reported the incident to a manager, he said.
Jacob Wayne Cortez, 32, of the 200 block of Willie Young Road, Eunice, was escorted out of the store, Fontenot said.
The story might have ended there, but when the employees went outside on break, Cortez circled in a vehicle and tried to lure the employees to the truck Fontenot said.
Cortez then got out of the truck and approached the employees with a baseball bat and threatened to hit them, he said.
Cortez left Walmart but was stopped by police and arrested, he said.
Cortez was charged with driving under the influence, disturbing the peace, aggravated assault, simple assault and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
