Eunice man surrenders to police after man is shot in the back

A Eunice man surrendered to police about 30 minutes after another man was shot in the upper back in the 500 block of South Beulah Street at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Eunice police report.
Melvin Reed, 35, of the 500 block of South Martin Luther King, Eunice, has been charged with attempted manslaughter, police report.
Police said this morning that the 40-year-old victim is not cooperating with police in the investigation.
Police report obtaining evidence at the scene of the shooting. The victim was taken to Opelousas General Hospital where he was treated and released, police said.
Reed came to the police department to meet with detectives after the shooting, police said.
Reed is being held without bail set pending a court appearance.
