Eunice trusty runs

A 17-year-old Eunice man being held on misdemeanor drug charges now faces a felony charge after running from the Eunice Police Department on Wednesday.
Connor Atchison had been in jail about two weeks for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
“He’s a kid making a stupid decision,” Fontenot said Thursday morning about the escape, which is a felony charge.
Atchison was a trusty at the time of the the escape, he said. Fontenot described him as a white male, about 6 feet tall and thin. Atchison was wearing a white T-shirt and black pants at the time of the escape at about 3:30 a.m.
The Eunice police radio logs indicate Atchison took off headed south on 3rd Street. Police received a call that placed him heading north on 2nd Street toward La. 13. Next, he was reported a trailer park on North 2nd Street.
“We went to every place we thought he might have gone and were unable to locate him,” Fontenot said of the search Wednesday.
Fontenot does not consider Atchison dangerous.
Police were in the process of trying to get Atchison into a drug treatment facility, he said.
