Murder suspects remain in Texas
The man and woman linked to the death of Akeem Ceaser, 22, of Eunice, remain in custody in San Angelo, Texas, awaiting extradition back to Eunice, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said Friday.
Phillip Lafleur, 22, and Candice Vidrine, 21, both of Eunice, were identified Feb. 19 as suspects in Ceasar’s death, which has been ruled a homicide by the coroner.
District Judge Gerard Caswell signed warrants on Thursday that charged Lafleur with second-degree murder and Vidrine with being an accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, Fontenot said.
Fontenot said the charges against the two are subject to change.
Ceaser’s body was found Feb. 1 in a wooded area north of East Magnolia Avenue. He was last seen Dec. 24.
In Texas, Vidrine was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Lafleur was charged with evading in a motor vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as well as outstanding warrants.
Fontenot said bringing Lafleur and Vidrine back to Eunice may take some time because of the charges they face in Texas.
