Police chief says suspects in sight in bogus bomb notes

A second bomb hoax within a week occurred at Eunice Elementary.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said investigators are focusing on two suspects.
The latest bogus bomb threat was at Eunice Elementary and reported by phone at about 12:19 p.m. Tuesday.
A note was found stating a bomb would go off at 12:30 p.m., he said.
Students were evacuated, but were back in class by 1:09 p.m. following a search of the school, he said.
A note threatening a bomb was found Thursday at Eunice Junior High School and deemed a hoax.
Fontenot said there is a suspect in the junior high school incident and police are nearing identification of a suspect in the elementary school threat.
On Dec. 10, a note stating the school was going to blow up in an hour forced the evacuation of Eunice Junior High School.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the crudely written note was reported from a school employee at 1:36 p.m.
The note was found on door on the south side of the main gymnasium.
A bomb hoax is considered terrorism and if an adult is convicted the penalty is a fine up to $15,000 and a 15-year prison term, Fontenot said.
For a juvenile, a terrorism conviction could mean a jail sentence until they are 21 years old, he said. However, a juvenile may face prosecution as an adult, he said.
On Sept. 17, Central Middle School was evacuated after a bomb threat was found in a bathroom at the school.
