Glynis Fournerat gets 5 years each count; ex-husband faces charge, suit involving bar fight

Glynis Fournerat, who attempted to hire an undercover deputy to kill her now ex-husband and his girlfriend, has been sentenced to five years in prison on each count.

Meanwhile, the ex-husband, Logan Fournerat, has criminal and civil court issues of his own.

Glynis was re-sentenced by 27th District Judge Alonzo Harris after the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals ruled he could not deviate from state statute and suspend her sentence and put her under house arrest.

He had done so last August, saying he was deviating because she was truly sorry for her actions, had never been in trouble and her victims asked for that exception on certain conditions.

Her house arrest began in December 2010.

Harris gave five years on each count, to be served concurrently, with credit for time served from her arrest in either parish jail or under house arrest.

A stipulation is that she will serve her time in a minimum security institution.

Logan Fournerat has pleaded not guilty to a charge of inciting a felony last Nov. 4. In making his written plea, Logan Fournerat asked for trial by jury.

A trial date has not been set.

Logan Fournerat was charged on a bill of information filed by the Acadia Parish District Attorney’s Office.

Under Louisiana statutes, inciting a felony is the endeavor by one or more persons to incite or procure another person to commit a felony.

A conviction is punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000, or imprisonment, with or without hard labor for not more than two years, or both.

No affidavit stipulating the circumstances of charges against Logan Fournerat was included with the public filing and the district attorney’s investigative file is not public record, so there is no official summary of the time, place, or circumstances leading to the charge.

However, civil suits filed in late August provide some indication of when and where the alleged action took place.

Darren Redlich and Amanda Fontenot in separate suits alleged the same things. What the provocation, if any, for the alleged actions was is not stipulated.

On or about Nov. 4, 2010, the plaintiffs entered the Basile Road House, also a named defendant, with family and friends.

According to the petition, Logan Fournerat approached them in the rear of the bar next to the video poker area and verbally assaulted them and “threatened them and their party with intense violence in public view, while further inciting, facilitating, conspiring, and causing associates Ethan Bacon, Greg Manuel and Nathan Brown and others” to set out in violence and attack them.

Bacon, Manuel and the bar’s unnamed insurance companies are all co-defendants in the suit.

Redlich claims he was dragged back into the premises and beaten by Bacon and Brown and that Bacon then left Darren and brutally attacked Devin Redlich on the outside front porch.

The plaintiffs alleged they asked for but got no help.

The suits ask for the traditional range of damages.

Devin Redlich on the same night is accused of slashing Manuel in the stomach with a knife at the bar and trying to slash another. His charges were reduced Monday from attempted murder to aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon.
