Eunice Players' Theatre annual Children's Workshop set for Saturday
The Eunice Players’ Theatre announces the date for its 7th annual Children’s Workshop, which will focus on playwriting.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, July 11 at Eunice Community Art House, located at 213 South Second St.
Playwright Cody Daigle-Orians will lead this year’s workshop, which will be presented in two sessions.
In this workshop, young and first-time writers will participate in a series of fun and interactive playwriting exercises that will help them explore the basics of playwriting. By the time the workshop concludes, they’ll have a fully realized comic or dramatic monologue that’s ready for performance.
Cody Daigle-Orians, a Louisiana-born playwright and teaching artist, lives in Hartford, Connecticut.
In his playwright life, he was the resident playwright for The Playhouse Tulsa’s 2013-2014 season, the company playwright for Acadiana Repertory Theatre and a company playwright for Manhattan Theatre Works. Plays for The Playhouse Tulsa: William and Judith, Tulsa! A Radio Christmas Spectacular, Little Women and the recently commissioned The Bottom of the Sea. Plays for Acadiana Repertory Theatre: In the Bones, The Survivalists, The Woman’s Part. Plays for Manhattan Theatre Works: Providence, A Home Across the Ocean. His work has been produced developed at the Astoria Performing Arts Center, New Jersery Repertory Theatre, The Actors Company Theatre and the Great Plains Theatre Conference. In his teaching artist life, he is a teaching artist at New Britain Youth Theatre.
Daigle-Orians worked as a teaching artist or created plays for young actors/audiences for the Delta Grand Youth Theatre, AUI Summer Theatre, The Playhouse Tulsa and Union Public Schools. He also created the PlayBridge Workshop, a unique play creation workshop for young people, in collaboration with AUI in Lafayette, and has produced three world premiere plays with their young actor/playwrights.
When he’s not in the theatre, Cody is a teaching assistant in special education for East Windsor Middle School in East Windsor, CT.
Session for ages 7- 12 will be held from 10 a.m. until noon, while ages 13-17 will attend a session starting at 1 p.m. and lasting until 4 p.m.
Registration fee of $10 will be due the morning of the workshop.
