Josi A. Lemelle was a special guest and honoree at the Mayor’s Chambers Friday morning as Mayor Rusty Moody signed an appreciation certificate recognizing Lemelle.
Lemelle, daughter of Chad and Fran Lemelle of Eunice, wears the new title of Miss Dance of America as she was crowned at the annual Scholarship Competition of Dance Masters of America.
Lemelle, 8, a five-year student at Oliva Dodd’s Studio of Dance, performed a Jazz routine during the Annual Scholarship Competition of Dance Masters of America in Beaumont, Texas recently.
This prestigious event in the World of Dance required all contestants to participate in scholarship classes, which included all forms of dance, and the contestants were also interviewed by a distinquished panel of judges.
Lemelle will have the opportunity and privilege of competing at Nationals Dance Competition in July in Kissimmee, Fla.
Lemelle is a second-grade Honor Roll student at East Elementary and her teacher is Merline Bollich. Her principal is Dwanetta Scott.
Her dance teachers and instructors at Oliva Dodd’s are Oliva Dodd and London Dodd Vidrine.
