New staff, new courses at ECTEC
EUNICE – New faces greet students at the Eunice Career & Technical Education Center (ECTEC) this school year.
Lisa T. Fuselier takes over the helm as its’ newest facilitator, Anne-Marie Himel McGee is the new certified nursing assistant (C.N.A.) instructor and Kyle Vincent begins his teaching tenure in health science.
Students who were accustomed to seeing Fuselier in the hallways at Eunice Junior High School as their assistant principal were surprised to see her greeting them in her new role as the facilitator at ECTEC.
No stranger to the classroom, Fuselier began her teaching career at Eunice High School as a business instructor for 22 ½ years before moving to EJHS as assistant principal for the 3 ½ years.
“This is an exciting time to be at ECTEC,” said Fuselier, “with the current trends in education moving toward career and technical education and our experienced teaching staff, we are poised to offer quality, skill training to students in the Eunice area.”
Taking over as the CNA instructor is Anne-Marie Himel McGee. McGee graduated from St. Edmund Catholic School in 2009, then received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from McNeese State University in 2013. Following graduation, she worked in the Med-Surg department at Acadian Medical Center before working in home health for two years.
Joining the staff as the health sciences instructor is Kyle Vincent. Originally from Kaplan, Vincent graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2014, with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. He worked as a licensed athletic trainer for Louisiana Athletic Care in various parishes for the last two years. Vincent is currently teaching first responder, medical terminology, and sports medicine, and works for Louisiana Athletic Care as the full-time athletic trainer for Eunice High School athletics.
“Anne-Marie and Kyle’s experience in their respective fields in the medical industry combined with their background of working with the community make them a wonderful fit for teaching our students the importance of their future role in the health care system,” Fuselier said.
The Eunice Career and Technical Education Center offers programs and/or certification in several trade skills, including carpentry, auto mechanics, CNA, medical terminology, first responder, sports medicine, welding, oil & gas production, and culinary arts.
ECTEC programs and activities are open to all students regardless of race, color, handicap, religion, creed, national origin, age or sex.
