Allen Parish handling case of woman found dead at pond

Allen Parish authorities will handle the followup investigation in the case of an Elton woman found dead on the banks of a pond on Swan Lake Lane west of Eunice on Tuesday.
Earthy Maye Griffith, 61, had been reported missing since Sunday.
Authorities said she was seen Monday at the Eunice Walmart and was las seen walking west along U.S. 190.
Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert told a Lake Charles television station that n Elton couple reported giving her a ride Monday, letting her out near a store.
A signal from her cellphone was tracked to the pond.
Asst. St. Landry Coroner Toby Savoie said there were no obvious signs of trauma.
Allen Parish will handle the autopsy and investigation.
