Art Walk, CFMA anniversary launch Main to Main
Art Walk will kick off Main to Main celebrations in November on Saturday at 7 p.m. on South Second Street.
And the same same night, the 30th anniversary of th Cajun French Music Association will be celebrated at the weekly Rendez-vous des Cajuns” Cajun Music Show at the Liberty Theater.
Art Walk is a free celebration from 7 to 9 p.m.
Five venues along the street will be featuring original art work, including the just-opened xxx and xxx. Also participating are xxxxxxxxxxx and xxxxxxx and axxxxxx.
Live music will be feature at two locations on the Art Walk and there will be food and drink available.
At the Liberty, performances by Briggs Brown, Kyle Huval, Bubba Hebert, Kegan Navarre and other Cajun musicians will be featured fron 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Emcee for this special celebration will be Ken Walker, national president of the CFMA.
The Cajun French Music Association is a non-profit organization comprised of Cajuns and non-Cajuns hose purpose is to promote and preserve, not only Cajun music, but also various aspects of the Acadian Heritage.
The CFMA was founded in Basile in November of 1984 with Harry LaFleur of Eunice as its founder. Since its beginning of less than 30 persons, it has grown to a membership of approximately 2,000 families serving seven chapters in Louisiana and four chapters in the Cajun Region of Southeast Texas and one in Chicago, Ill.
