City judge candidates file campaign funds reports
Eunice City Judge candidates Paul Brown and Terry Hoychick are neck-and-neck in campaign contributions and Brown has spent about 20 percent more in the Nov. 4 primary campaign, according to reports filed with the state by each man’s campaign committee.
Candidate Josie Frank reports far less in contributions and spending.
Candidate Jay Caswell is not accepting contributions. He listed in a report filed Oct. 16 $21,303 in personal funds contributed to his campaign and therefore not required to such a report.
The quartet of candidates is seeking the post being vacated by retiring Judge Lynette Feucht.
According to Louisiana Ethics Administration reports, Hoychick leads in contributions, with $38,779 received, as well as $5,045 of in-kind support, and a $500 loan from him to get the campaign started, for a total of $44,324.
Brown reports $35,775 in contributions and a $5,000 loan from him to the campaign, for a total of $40,775.
Frank’s contributions total $8,500, and $279 in-kind, for an $8,879 total.
Through Sept. 25, Brown had spent $31,325 and reported $9,449 on hand. Hoychick had spent $25,624 and had $13,604 on hand. Frank had spent $6,159 and had $2,440 on hand. Caswell reports spending all that he had contributed through Oct. 1
Hoychick and Brown report a number of contributors giving $500 or more to their respective campaigns. Frank lists four persons in that category, including herself.
