Early voting under way

St. Landry Registrar of Voters Cheryl Milburn reminds residents that the early voting period for the Nov. 4 primary election opened Tuesday and will continue through Oct. 28,
Early voting can be done at the registrar’s office in the parish courthouse in Opelousas.
A proposal to open an adjunct registrar office in Eunice City Hall was dropped when Secretary of State Tom Schedler advised that a satellite registration office is not permissible.
Milburn noted that there are 14 proposed constitutional amendments on the primary ballot in addition to a host of races for federal, parish and local posts.
Early voting will be conducted Tuesday through Saturday until the deadline, during the hours from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Voters should plan for a wait of some time in line.
Voters should have positive identification with them.
