Several runway lights at the Eunice Airport were stolen and damaged Thursday evening, and airport manager Drew Miller estimates the repairs and replacements will cost the city about $500.
“It used to happen every weekend, but it hasn’t happened in about five or six years,” Miller said. “We used to catch them, and it was always some kids. Their parents would see pictures of the lights in the paper, figure it out and turn the kids in to the police. One parent found a bag of the lights in their kid’s room. If we get the bulbs back in working condition, I can just put them back (in their mounts).”
“The runway is still safe for planes to land,” Miller added.
Miller asked that anyone with information about the theft and damage call the Eunice Police Department.
