Eunice gets its turn at alleged thief

Bacas

A woman was moved from the Lafayette Parish jail to face theft and other charges in Eunice, which waited a year-and-a half for its turn on her criminal journey.
Now she faces two charges of Monetary Instrument Abuse and two counts of felony theft in this jurisdiction.
A local business notified the department on Aug. 6, 2012 after it discovered that it had cashed fraudulent payroll checks.
The checks had the business name of Designs and Detail of New Iberia but the investigation revealed that suspect Rebecca Bacas, 37, of New Iberia was never employed by their company.
The two fraudulent payroll checks totaled over $1,800 and warrants were issued for her arrest.
She was last week located while serving time in jail then transferred to Eunice for the outstanding warrants. She appeared in 27th Judicial District Court Monday and bond was set at $6,000. She then bonded out.
Records show Bacas has an extensive arrest history which include issuing worthless checks, forgery, theft, and bank fraud.
