A ballot with image of Elvis were available at the Post Office, according to Carl Hornsby, postmaster. The public was invited to vote on a image that would be placed on a 19-cent first-class stamp.
Art show winners From the Festival of Arts held at LSUE were honored at reception with Mayor Curtis Joubert presenting the awards. A photo from the reception included Joubert; Jo Ann Quilman, of Eunice; Pat Marcantel, of Oberlin; Simone Little, of Morse; Mike LeBlanc, of Lake Charles; Gilda Garner and Richard Garner, both of Ville Platte; and Michael Smith, chancellor.
Masses for confirmation candidates were held in March at St. Anthony Catholic Church and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Catholic Daughter hostesses at St. Anthony were pictured with Bishop Harry Flynn. The CDA members included Hilda Carrier, Dennine Higgenbotham, Frances Young, Helen Tanner, Wilda Hollier, Ruth Oncale, Velma LeJeune, Jane Ardoin, Margaret Hossley, Melba Stelly and Ruby Manuel.
LSUE Theatre’s production of “Lilies of the Field” included cast members Elise Abshire and Heather Boyd, of Eunice; Phillip Young, of Basile; Joe Fields and Shirley Hanks, of Crowley; Dayla Savoy, of Pine Prairie; Jody Miller, of Iota; and Victor Gianfala, of Church Point. The theatre group was under the director of Stanley Coleman.
Bell’s Seafood, 555 E. Laurel, Eunice, advertised cleaned and deveined crawfish for $4.99 a pound. Bell’s ad stated, “If it swim I got it.”
