The following are from the November 1998 files of The Eunice News.
A LeJeune-Young mini-reunion was reported on the Nov. 1 edition. The reunion, held in Eunice Oct. 24, included Clarice Vuillemont, Kilren Vidrine, Athalie Dupre, Annette Huval, Nancy LeJeune, Harold LeJeune, Nancy LeJeune Curry and Anita Dupre.
The VFW Post 8971 presented a new flag for Highland Elementary to Principal Claude Moody. Making the presentation were Al Courvile, post commander, and Herbert “Chick” Dupre, quartermaster.
The St. Edmund Blue Jays dominated the Oberlin Tigers in a 35-0 win. Scoring for Eunice were Chuck Bowie with four touchdowns; Jacob Langley, one touchdown; and Mark Domingue, extra points.
The Eunice High Bobcats stunned the second-ranked Crowley High Gents with 26-22 win. Scoring for Eunice were Spencer Aucoin, three touchdowns; and Antonio Chapman, one touchdown.
Postal workers were photographed dressed for Halloween. There were Cindy Turk as “Old Maid,” Jo Ann Dupre as “Sacrecrow,” and Darline Daigle as “Pumpkin.”
