Eunice sales tax collections rebound

Eunice sales tax collections rebounded in January and receded in February compared to the same months in 2015, but notched a 3.4 percent increase, according to a report by the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division.
February collections in Eunice totaled $389,707, down 3 percent from the February 2015 collections.
In January, Eunice sales tax collections totaled $576,495, up 8.3 percent from January 2015.
The city’s sales tax collections are up 3.4 percent for the first two months of the year compared to same months in 2015. Collections totaled $966,202 for the first two months of the year compared to $934,133 in 2015.
St. Landry Parish sales tax collections for the February were $4,619,939, down 4.5 percent from the February 2015 collections.
Collections for January and February total $11,707,715, down 2.6 percent from the same two months a year ago.
The parish sales tax total includes parish, school, solid waste, law enforcement and municipal taxes.
The sales tax rate in Eunice is 9.75 percent. Of that 4 percent is state, 3.55 percent is parish and 2.2 percent is city.
Unincorporated areas pay an 9.5 percent sales tax revenue, which includes 4 percent state and 5.5 percent parish rates.
The February collections reflect actual sales in January.
