Eunice sales tax revenues up in ‘15

Eunice sales tax revenues in 2015 were about 1 percent higher than collected in 2014, according to a report by the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division.
Collections in 2015 totaled $5,257,497 compared to $5,205,883 in 2014, a $51,598 increase.
However, Eunice 2015 sales collections began to lag behind those of 2014 beginning in August.
From August through December sales tax revenues totaled $2,111,100, a 1.8 percent decline from the same period in 2014. Revenues in October 2015 of $445,725 bested those of October 2014 by $15,443. The October numbers reflect sales from mid-August to mid-September.
Eunice sales collections declined in five months in 2015 compared to the same months in 2014. Those months were May, August, September, November and December.
Total 2015 sales tax collections in St. Landry Parish rose 2.8 percent over those in 2014. The parish 2015 total was $66,170,968, a $1,811,743 increase from 2014.
The parish sales tax total includes parish, school, solid waste, law enforcement and municipal taxes.
Arnaudville was the only city in St. Landry Parish with sales tax collections dropping in 2015 compared to 2014. Total collections in Arnaudville were $541,395, down from $573,828 in 2014.

The sales tax rate in Eunice is 9.75 percent. Of that 4 percent is state, 3.55 percent is parish and 2.2 percent is city.
Unincorporated areas pay an 9.5 percent sales tax revenue, which includes 4 percent state and 5.5 percent parish rates.
