The Community Chest program recently launched by the City Council has already collected $300 in addition to new clothes and toys donated by merchants for needy families, according to Mayor J.B. Lewis.

Theo Clements has moved his Palace Cafe into new quarters adjoining Eunice Bank and Trust on 2nd Street.

The greatest portion of Second Street has been paved with traffic re-opened on the main thoroughfare as far north as Vine.

Paving of the route from the Old Spanish Trail at Crowley to Eunice and north will open a new link to Alexandria and communities north.

Natural gas will be supplied to Eunice from the Washington, La. line beginning in March.

Three masked men fired a shot at a car returning from Crowley six miles south of the city as they jumped from bushes onto the running boards. The driver was robbed of his cash and cigarettes.

The Rev. J.A. Knight has been designated the new pastor of the Methodist church. He comes here from Melville.

A man was shot and killed by a five-year-old playing with a loaded shotgun at a residence near Eunice.

An unknown thief stole Chief of Police Henry Landry’s car from in front of City Hall while he was making rounds. The vehicle was found abandoned near Basile
