Highway Board member Gladney Manuel told the Chamber of Commerce that the state is studying building a north-south four-lane route through the city, along present routes of either First or Fourth streets.
Gov.-elect Edwin Edwards has selected Chataignier farmer and businessman and Evangeline Parish School Board member Roy Aguillard to be his Director of Public Works. 
The city is considering buying 30 lots in the extension of Harris Subdivision on the east side to provide football, baseball, softball and tennis locations. On the west side, the city plans to use about 100 acres for expanding the golf course. 
Paul N. Fortney, Jr. has begun work as Eunice News news editor. He has been state editor for Louisiana news for the Beaumont Enterprise. 
Mrs. Martin Lantz was named Lions Club Humanitarian of the Year for her work with families struggling with alcohol and drug problems.
Father Guy Lemoine of St. Thomas More Parish has been transferred to Breaux Bridge and will be succeeded by Father Harry Quick of St. Joseph Parish in Evangeline.
Attorney John Breaux of Crowley has announced his candidacy for Congress from the 7th District, the seat formerly held by Edwards.
The Eunice News published the first color photograph produced, developed and plated within its own confines.
An open house was held for the Eloi Guillory Day Care Center, a facility built after years of effort by the Eunice Association for Retarded Children. A greenhouse is planned for the near future.
