Dr. Joshua Frank celebrated 50 years as pastor of New Zion Baptist Church. He has established a number of churches and help establish several schools during that time.

Work is progressing on replacement of gas supply lines at three housing developments in the city, according to executive director Kelly McFarlain.

St. Edmund’s Paul Thompson announced he will sign a football scholarship agreement with Tulane. He is a tight end.

Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Richard LeDoux announced his intentions to be a candidate for chief of police in the October primary.

Nezpique Communiations has plans to construct an FM radio station here. KBAZ owners are attorneys Kent Aguillard, Terry Hoychick and Lynette Feucht.

The City Council adopted an ordinance outlining a rehab process for workers who fail drug screening.

James Dupre, a 16-year employee of the former First Acadiana Bank, will head a new loan production office in Eunice for Guaranty Bank of Mamou.

Gervis and Jo Ann Stanford are joining forces to give hair cuts in one location. Their new shop is located in the former Jolly Rogers’ building on West Maple.

Former Eunice High assistant coach Paul Trosclair received a plaque of appreciation from the EHS Booster Club. After eight years as a Bobcats’ coach he was recently named head football coach at Oakdale High.

A number of prospective bidders toured the Seale building in preparation of bid taking for the next phase of the Jean Lafitte Acadian Culture Center.

Ardoin Funeral Home general manager Gil Young has announced his candidacy for the City Council. Mayor Curtis Joubert announced he will see re-election.
