The new wing of Moosa Memorial Hospital is nearing completion, according to Louise Guillory, administrator. Once it is completed, renovations on the old wing will begin. The $650,000 new wing is being paid for by property tax and federal Hill-Burton funds.

The state has awarded a contract for digging of a drainage canal from the Eunice city limits south to Bayou Mallet. Cost is $66,000. It will pick up water from one the city will build, one that will cross Laurel and Maple avenues.

Neddrick Fruge, 15, bagged a 13-point buck on the season’s opening day south of Reeves. He was hunting with the Joe LeDoux party.

Samuel E. Charlton, formerly of Eunice, has been elected vice president of marketing for Humble Oil.

Gubernatorial candidate Chep Morrison of New Orleans said a junior college is needed in Eunice and the will work as governor to establish one.

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy is the most shocking and epochal event in this generation.

Dick McGrew is new news editor of The Eunice News, succeeding Victor Couvillion, who has joined the Air Force. McGrew, of Alabama, comes here from the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
